About the author
Once upon a time, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I used to lie in bed at night and make up stories in my head. At the age of eight, seduced by the feel and smell of a fresh sheet of lined writing paper, I began writing them down. Those first stories, heavily influenced by the "Lad" books of Albert Payson Terhune, were usually about the grand and glorious relationship between a dog and its human. But by the time I reached the age of twelve, a curious thing happened to those man/dog relationship stories: I started writing about human relationships instead. Love stories. And although there have been many variations on that theme in the years since, I'm still writing love stories. I can't imagine writing anything else. As a matter of fact, when people ask, as they occasionally do, why I write what I write, I refer them to a quote attributed to the amazing Stephen King: "What makes you think I have a choice?" Yes. Exactly!
Although I now write on a computer, I still find myself unable to resist the siren's call of a new pen and a writing tablet. I collect those pretty little bound journals that I find in Barnes & Noble and Rite-Aid. The problem is, I never end up writing in them. They're just too perfect and pristine. So they sit on my bookshelf, gathering dust, while I do all my writing at the keyboard. And the next time I'm in a bookstore, and I see another one, with its lovely blank pages and colorful cover...well, let's just say it's an addiction I can't explain!
I've written and published thirteen books, the first three with small publishers; the six that followed were published by MIRA Books, a division of Harlequin Enterprises. My first book for MIRA hit the USA Today bestseller list, and several of my romantic suspense novels also made the Waldenbooks romance bestseller list. I'm self-publishing now, and loving it. My Jackson Falls Series is now six books long. All six are available for Kindle and in trade paperback, and the first three have also been made into audiobooks. Life is good.
I've lived my entire life in Maine, although my heart resides in Boston. I must have been born to the wrong parents; I was supposed to be a city girl! But my husband likes it here in Maine, and I like my husband, so there you have it. We have two grown kids, two smart and beautiful grandchildren, and several adorable grand-dogs.
When I'm not writing, I can often be found at my easel, painting with acrylics, or shooting sunrises and sunsets with my Canon camera. Day trips to Boston help to keep the writing well filled, and I get most of my story ideas driving around the back roads of Maine.

The Miles Between Us is a beautiful continuation of the love story that is Rob and Casey MacKenzie. They waited a very long time to be happy and have been to hell and back together but one more tragedy becomes the catalyst for years of devastation to all come flooding back into their , what seems to be, perfect life.
Rob has always been Casey's rock, her protector, but this time is different. Is he really happy with his career choices? While struggling with that question he is still fighting his own guilt over his best friend and Casey's ex-husband's death. Danny Fiore has been gone a long time but he is still with them in more ways than one. They both need to exercise their ghosts or learn to embrace them. Each of them needs to find their way back to the way they were before this latest disaster sent them out of control. They need each other now more than ever.
"You're the reason I get out of bed every day. Even in my sleep, you're the bright, shiny thing my world revolves around. The glue that holds me together." *sigh
Casey wants more life in her life and knows in her heart she cannot live without it. Her fight to get more has become what her mind and heart have become obsessed with. Is she losing her mind or is this her conscience talking to her, telling her to let it go? It is hard to watch her unravel and it is even harder to watch her push Rob away.
"as time goes moving on,
I don't care what people say
I'm just gonna stay right here
and love you anyway"
Can their forever love survive forever?? Will a love so deep and so real make it through to the other side? Can they heal?
Although you can probably read this book alone I would whole heartedly recommend you read at least book one and book three in this series if you havent already ...and why haven't you??? This series is amazing and Laurie Breton does such a great job making you feel...sad, happy , mad or sexy ...all those feelings and many many more!!!
The epilogue rocks!!!!!
I think the reason I have for loving this series it that the people are not perfect and neither is their life. Everyone makes mistakes and Casey is the most level headed one in the family but even she has her moments. I sincerely hope this isn't the last book of the series. I would like to read more.

So if you have yet to discover this amazing story or you have yet to read this book I really recommend you start by 1clicking now. If I give Laurie 10 stars I would.
When Casey has another miscarriage all her previous heart aches catch up with her and she finds herself in a black hole she can't seem to find her way out of. While Rob realizes his passion for performing on stage hasn't gone away.
Love helps them both through these hard times and they finally find their way back in to the light.
Really loved this book.
